Lunetta Prosecco
Since bubbly wines are always appreciated during the holidays, here is one that won't break the bank yet tastes delicious. Green fruit and other citrus notes along with peach and moderate bubbles. A crowd pleaser and only 11% ABV, so headaches won't be too bad if you over indulge.
~$10

Graham Beck Brut Rose Sparkling Wine
A truly well made wine that would probably be blind tasted as a "true champagne." (more on that topic in the education section soon). A nearly 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Raspberry and chalky minerality. Lovely.
~$15

Bollinger Special Cuvee Brut Champagne N.V.
To make true Champagne, there are hundreds of rules, regulations, and techinques that have been honed by the folks in Northern France for centuries. I won't bore you on this now, but just know that the "juice is worth the squeeze" when you find a Champagne you love, and Bollinger won't disappoint. Almond, buttery, and creamy. Immense bubbles and so complex I can't find the right words to fill this in.

Hedges CMS Red Blend
This is the perfect wine for a cool fall night with big ripe, full flavors. Is a blend of Cab, Merlot, and Shiraz (Syrah), which I love! Blends, especially in the hands of a good winemaker offer the best of each grape to shine!
~$10

BoonyDoon Clos de Gilroy Grenache
A lighter, medium body wine with plenty of zest. Pairs will with so many dishes... pizza, tacos, chicken, and dare I say steak? This will impress wine nerds while still being approachable to wine novices.
~$15

Paolo Scavino Bricco Ambrogio Barolo
Barolo's are such unique and complex wines...(I'll have to do a blog post on them). They typically need lots of bottle age to get the true flavors. This particular bottle doesn't disappoint. Ripe raspberry and roses on the nose. 2010 was an amazing vintage so go for it if you can find them. If not, any wines from Paolo Scavino will surely impress.

Vina Borgia Garnacha
This is the wine that made me fall in love with Spanish Red Wines! You can buy it by the bottle for around $8 retail or by the box (I know, that sound so awful, but it is just fine) for about $20 ($5 per bottle).
~$8

Michael David Petite Petit
Don't let the label fool you... this wine is not a trip to the circus! It is big and bold, but well put together and a crowd pleaser.
~$15

Justin Cabernet Sauvignon
The quintessential flavors of New World Cab, but from a lesser known, but amazing part of California called Paso Robles. I've been lucky enough to visit and will tell you, these wines are the real deal.
